"Celebrating Jaguar"

On Saturday, Anne and I went to the All-British Field Meet at Portland International Raceway.  Over six hundred cars were there.  Jaguar was the featured marque.

This post is mostly photos, with a little commentary. Click a photo for a larger picture.

Lotus Type 15

Lotus Type 15

I talked to this car’s owner.  It’s a Lotus Type 15, which is similar to a Type 11.  He says it’s an original Lotus, not a replica, but it’s been rebuilt to the point where that’s an academic distinction.

This car is a “Noble Lotus 23 by Auriga”.  I.e., it’s a replica.  Wikipedia explains the car. This one has an Alfa Romeo engine.  You can see my car in the background in the upper picture.  There were only about a dozen cars in the Lotus section.

This Elite was beautiful and very clean.  It had a Coventry Climax engine with a “Godiva” badge on the valve cover.  I asked Google, but don’t know exactly what that signifies.  Godiva apparently was a water pump manufacturer that also used Climax engines, but why is their name on the Lotus’ valve cover?

This Lotus Cortina was pretty too.

But enough about Lotus.  There were some other cars there too.

Anne looked at the TR3s and decided she would like to have one. I was shocked.  I wonder if she’ll like learning to shift a non-synchro transmission.

I don’t know anything about this car except that it looks cool with the bumpers removed.  Was it a factory special or aftermarket?  For street or track?  Why does it have a Pegasus decal?

An unusual car.  The owner claims 26 were built.  Possibly an ugly car.

The Elf was an upscale Mini with a boot.  This one was trimmed in burlwood and ostrich skin.

I just now looked up the results of the People’s Choice awards.  My car won 3rd place in the Elise/Exige class.  That’s pretty good, considering that there were four cars in the class. (-:  I did wash my car before the event.  In June.
